BPM Coach Madelyn Eybergen Crowned HYROX World Champion and Makes Canadian History

The BPM Fitness Centre community has always known that Coach Madelyn Eybergen is a special athlete. Now, the rest of the world knows it too, especially after her recent success at the championship.

At the 2026 PUMA HYROX World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden, Madelyn delivered one of the most remarkable performances in Canadian fitness racing history, finishing second overall in the Pro Women’s division while capturing the HYROX World Championship title in the 16-24 age group.

Even more impressive, Madelyn stopped the clock in an astonishing 57:37, becoming the first Canadian woman ever to break the coveted 60-minute barrier in HYROX competition and setting the fastest time ever recorded by a Canadian female athlete. Her performance shattered her previous personal best by more than six minutes and cemented her place among the world’s elite HYROX competitors.

For everyone at BPM Fitness Centre, this achievement represents years of dedication, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

From Victoria Running Star to World-Class HYROX Athlete

Madelyn’s success did not happen overnight.

Before dominating the HYROX world stage, she had already established herself as one of Canada’s top distance runners. Fresh off a remarkable university season competing for the Victoria Vikes, Madelyn captured U SPORTS gold and continued to prove herself as one of the country’s most talented endurance athletes.

According to a recent feature from Running Magazine, her transition from elite distance running into HYROX competition has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Her performance highlights the growing connection between endurance sports and HYROX racing. Athletes who combine exceptional aerobic capacity with strength, power, and functional fitness are increasingly finding success in the sport.

What Makes a Sub-60 HYROX So Impressive?

For those unfamiliar with HYROX, the race consists of:

  • 8 x 1km runs
  • 1,000m SkiErg
  • Sled Push
  • Sled Pull
  • Burpee Broad Jumps
  • 1,000m Row
  • Farmers Carry
  • Sandbag Lunges
  • 100 Wall Balls

Completing this demanding event in under 60 minutes places an athlete among the very best competitors in the world.

The 2026 HYROX World Championships brought together the top qualifiers from around the globe, with only a tiny percentage of athletes earning the opportunity to compete on the world stage in Stockholm.

To not only compete but also finish second overall in the Pro Women’s division demonstrates an exceptional level of fitness, race strategy, and mental toughness.

The Power of Hybrid Training

Madelyn’s success also reinforces a growing trend within the fitness industry: hybrid training.

Hybrid athletes develop multiple fitness qualities simultaneously, including:

  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Power
  • Speed
  • Mobility
  • Recovery capacity

At BPM Fitness Centre, we have seen firsthand how combining strength training with aerobic development can create incredibly resilient athletes.

Whether your goal is to run your first 5K, complete a HYROX event, improve sports performance, or simply feel stronger in everyday life, hybrid training offers a balanced and sustainable approach to fitness.
